Throughout the decades of her artistic career, Bridget has always been asked "Can you...paint, draw, create, make...something?" Her commissions are what her clients envision and want someone to do it for them. Bridget's body of work is expansive and lots of different mediums are included.
One of the most popular artforms is portraits of pets or homes and businesses. Bridget's love for pen and ink is shown through dozens of renderings. Later over the years, portraits developed into acrylic paintings, where there can be more detail and depth of color. Bridget also offers classes in painting portraits of one's pets.
Pen and ink is also a favorite for her calligraphy. At first, dip pens were really the only way to apply ink. But modern technology has now given artists many many ways to apply ink to many different surfaces. The art of dipping a pen and adding to paper, as in Copperplate calligraphy is becoming a specialized skill. Bridget also has done signage, for home decor or businesses. Hand lettering is a dying art, but many still like "the old fashioned way". She was once commissioned to create small 5 x 7 mats that were cut out for a photograph for awards for an event. Each one had the occasion calligraphed on it. There were 150 of them to do! Hand Lettered poems, awards, quotes, place cards and addressed envelopes are unique and original.
Some commissions are a client's personal vision. Furniture is one. Bridget has painted many different scenes on furniture, including glorious Florida sunsets, portraits of one's home or cottage, horses, dogs and even a firearm. It doesn't always have to be objects. Bridget has embellished furniture with abstract pours of acrylic paint, and accents of florals or designs.
One client asked for a portrait of a medieval church in Scotland, where he was married. Another client, an entomologist, frames his butterflies and bugs in shadowboxes for unique displays. Bridget has provided the backgrounds for these creations with original paintings. Sunsets, swamps, desert scenes, moonlit landscapes, and anything that he requests is done. And then it evolves into another form of art. One client commissioned Bridget to paint emu eggs with images of dinosaur embryos or the animal hatching from the egg.
Murals are popular in Florida. Bridget has been commissioned to paint these giant canvases in rooms, and on the walls of homes. Murals take a lot of planning and set up but usually can be completed in a few weeks.
In addition to her original art, commissions delight Bridget. She enjoys learning new subjects and creating something for her clients that they want. Yes she can paint, draw, create, or make whatever you would like!
